On 26th September, European Day of Languages, first year pupils at the Neue Mittelschule Pottendorf were able to actively take part in a special language project.

Starting with a lesson in Latin, as the foundation of many European languages, the pupils then travelled across Europe to discover the French, Italian and Welsh languages as well as local dialects.

Each of the language workshops allowed the pupils to hold a conversation in the given language and the children thoroughly enjoyed the challenge.

Of course, no journey would be complete without sampling some of the countries delicacies and after a lot of learning the pupils enjoyed a European banquet!

As the only Neue Mittelschule in the whole of Lower Austria to participate in the European Day of Languages project, we are pleased that our pupils had so much fun discovering new languages with us and look forward to next year's project!
